Perth a must-see tour destination in 2017

ANYONE from Perth is sure talk-up the coastal city, and it seems the rest of the world is starting to pay attention too. Lonely Planet has listed Pinky’s Eco Retreat and Beach Club on Rottnest Island as number eight on the top 10 best new openings of 2017. The article hails Rottnest as ‘a car-free island with 63 white sand beaches, snorkelling trails and the quokka’.

Not to be outdone, Perth has been listed on Travel and Leisure’s website as one of the top 50 destinations to visit across the world this year. The article celebrates the city as a “dining hot spot”, and specifically highlights City Beach, Elizabeth Quay and The Waiting Room, a cocktail bar in the lobby of Crown Towers. Both lists include only one other Australian destination on them – with Lonely Planet listing South Australia’s Kangaroo Island at number three on their list, and Travel and Leisure also mentioning Queensland’s Noosa on theirs.

The honours come after Tourism WA’s Just Another Day in WA social media campaign, which attracted 107,000 followers and 200,000 images with the hashtag #justanotherdayinwa.

The marketing campaign was launched in June to promote the diversity of WA and the everyday experiences waiting to be had.

We’re not ones to normally speculate, but we think it may have been a success.
